We believe the legal system gets stronger when thoughtful, determined students can bring new perspectives into it. The Legal Futures Scholarship supports one student pursuing a career in law with a one-time $2,500 educational award.

Who Can Apply
Four simple requirements.
This program is intentionally open to students at different stages of legal education—from undergraduate legal studies and paralegal programs to law school and graduate legal degrees.

Legal course of study
Pursue a J.D., LL.M., S.J.D., legal studies, pre-law, paralegal studies, criminal justice with a legal focus, or another degree or certificate designed for work in the legal system.

Academic standing
Maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent used by your school.

U.S. eligibility
Be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other person legally authorized to study in the United States.
Eligible institution: A U.S. postsecondary institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or an American Bar Association-approved law school. Employees of Dennis Injury Law, its vendors, and their immediate family or household members are not eligible.
The Essay
Your idea matters.
Identify one barrier that makes the legal system harder to understand or access. What practical change would you make—and how would your legal education help you make it?
Submit an original response of 400–700 words. Strong essays connect a specific problem to a realistic solution and show the applicant's own perspective, experience, or goals. Citations are welcome but not required.

Applications are reviewed for substance, clarity, and the applicant's potential to contribute to a more understandable and accessible legal system. Financial need is not required and is not scored.

Which programs count as a legal degree program?
Eligible programs include law degrees such as a J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D.; undergraduate legal studies or pre-law programs; paralegal degrees and certificates; and other postsecondary programs substantially focused on law, legal services, court administration, compliance, or access to justice. General criminal justice programs qualify only when the applicant's course of study has a clear legal focus.
Do I need to be a client of the firm?
No. No purchase, legal consultation, referral, or prior relationship with Dennis Injury Law is required. Applying does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Do I submit a transcript or proof of enrollment?
Not with the initial application. The selected applicant must provide reasonable documentation of enrollment or acceptance and academic standing before receiving the award. Do not send Social Security numbers, financial account information, or unrelated private records.
How is the award paid?
The $2,500 award is issued for the recipient's qualified educational expenses, ordinarily by payment to the recipient's eligible educational institution. The recipient is responsible for understanding any tax or financial-aid implications.
Can I use AI tools to write my essay?
Basic spelling and grammar tools are permitted, but the ideas, analysis, voice, and final writing must be the applicant's own. Essays generated substantially by another person or an automated writing system are not original work and may be disqualified.
Can I apply more than once?
Submit one application for the 2027 award cycle. If multiple applications are received from the same person, only the latest complete submission received before the deadline is reviewed.

Program terms: No purchase is necessary. One recipient is selected for the 2027 award cycle. Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on July 1, 2027. Dennis Injury Law may verify eligibility, reject incomplete or fraudulent applications, and withhold the award if the selected applicant does not provide requested verification within a reasonable period. If the selected applicant is ineligible or does not respond, an alternate may be selected. The award is not transferable. Dennis Injury Law may modify, suspend, or cancel the program if fraud, technical failure, legal requirements, or circumstances outside its reasonable control prevent fair administration.
